Ever wondered who’s exhibited the most together?

From Picasso to Sherman, the most exhibited-together artists.

Isn’t it fun to play with data?
We certainly think so.

Our search for new insight this week guided us away from the focus of the solo, instead looking closer at the moments that artists are united. Today we’re looking at the artists who have exhibited together 300 times or more…. That’s a minimum of Three. Hundred.Times.

A large portion of these artists are no longer with us, but their works are still exhibited together posthumously. As in life, their stories continue to be interwoven in death. Perhaps the beauty of data is being able to see the relationships (in both senses of the word) within it so clearly.

We see the lovers Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg, the old friends Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse, and the housemates and co-teachers at Bauhaus, Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee. There is life behind these numbers and it’s a beautiful thing to behold.
